About Us

Neal Andrews and Steve Cooper met while working as engineers for Hewlett-Packard. In 2000 they launched their own firm. Today Andrews-Cooper has offices in Tigard, McMinnville, and Corvallis, Oregon. More than 20 engineers provide tooling and automation for companies such as Hewlett-Packard, Phillips Medical, Boeing, Flextronics, Trimble, Presto Engineering, Manchester Copper Tubing, Mega Tech of Oregon, Perpetua Power Source Technologies, Kaso Plastics and ATS.

The engineers at Andrews-Cooper have more than 120 years experience in the industry.

Neal Andrews

Co-founder and senior designer, has over 20 years of experience in project management, concept generation and innovative product design. His materials and process knowledge allow him to address demands for fast track design, ruggedness, water-resistance, low-manufacturing costs, and more. Product accomplishments include defibrillator design, ink jet print head test systems, tape backup, and other electronic products. Neal has over 20 patents to his credit for unique enclosures and product performance testers. He is a graduate of Oregon State University with a B.S. in mechanical engineering.

Steve Cooper

Co-founder of Andrews-Cooper, has 25 years of design and management experience. He received his M.S. and B.S. degrees in mechanical engineering from Brigham Young University and worked for Bell Laboratories in Naperville Illinois before joining Hewlett Packard. He co-founded Andrews-Cooper in March of 2000. Steve has an analytical leaning, with competencies in thermal, vibration and stress analysis and applies these skills to both tooling automation and product design. He specializes in portable, rugged, water-proof product creation employing up-front strategic planning and rapid prototyping to quickly create low-cost, straight-forward designs.

Tyler Smith

Vice President and Tooling Division Manager, has broad experience in engineering and project management. In the last five years at Andrews-Cooper, he has completed over 100 design projects, ranging from heavy industrial machinery to medical devices, for a variety of companies. His approach to tooling development is to provide an optimized solution for the customers unique project needs. He consistently delivers high quality solutions on time and in budget. Tyler holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Oregon State University.
